Some people describe this place as a small artistic garden in the center of the urban district, where elegance fills up the atmosphere of the gallery.
Opened in 1980, the Venus Gallery of Meilun District sets its eyes on promoting artistic, environmentalistic, and social conduct and held many related activities. It is considered the oldest gallery in Eastern Taiwan. Apart from the ocassional exhibitions of local and overseas artists, there is also a book shop and a cafeteria. Through artworks, writings, and the mild fragrance of caffeine, the Venus Gallery is the focal point of all civil art and culture that fulfills all your senses.
On the front yard of the adjacent City Hall, is where 18 pieces of stone sculptures from a competition in 1995 are being put on display. This is the first garden in Hualien County to behold so many 3D artworks, and is also an important tourist site not to be missed.
