Niuwo was once where 21 years ago, a renowned writer Dongli Mong chose to seclude himself from the extravagance of Taipei and live an easy second life. Until 8 years ago, Ms Chopin Yu returned to Hualien and renovated this place into a Bed & Breakfast stop especially for female tourists who happen to be around the area. Niuwo literally means a woman's nest and rather self-explanatory.
Niuwo maintained its original architectural design of wood and bamboo, with simply easy decor also made of natural bamboo - bamboo furniture, bamboo lighting, and tatami carpeting - like entering a forest of bamboos! There are 2 huts available for visitors, each with individual kitchen and bathroom facilities. One of them provides an obsolete juniper tub where you collect drift logs and use them to boil the water yourself, allowing you to experience the olden day lifestyle. You may even pick up a few mint leaves on the way and sprinkle them into the hot bath. The freshness of the air dubbed by the wave splashes, presents to you the most natural spa experience that's beyond nature itself.
At Niuwo, as long as you relax, loosen your shoulders, look around and you shall discover endless surprises. Ms Yu's handicrafts are displayed everywhere : dyed clothing ; various floral decorations etc. Even tea taste different through her skilful making ! This is a place where nature is your most intimate friend, be it the rising sun or the roaring sea, it will make the most out of your stay.
