Point : Chunghong Bridge |
Count:17487 |
Completed in 1969 and as Taiwan's first suspension bridge, the Chunghong Bridge spans over a length of 120 meters. Chunghong literally means a long rainbow, and got its name due to the resemblance of a rainbow stretching from cliff to cliff as seen from a distance.
Standing on the bridge, you may see the river flowing into the sea in front of you, as the seagulls circle the area. A quiet piece of nature's art.
Situated at the mouth of the River Shiouguwang, the Main Harbour and Jin Village are each at the north and south end, 500m away. These are now the destinations for some canoeing activities. Next to the Shiouguwang River is the Jibulan Island. This island is filled with greenery and is suitable for camping, swimming and even fishing.
1 km away from the Chunghong Bridge, along the coast are blocks of limestones that were traditional known as the 'imperial boulders'. These rocks are so white that they are also named 'the jade of Shiougu'. In order to view these rocks, a visitors' ferry is available near the Main Harbour.
