Mount Chilai is located on the borderline of Nantou and Hualien Counties with an altitude of 3559 meters, towering the into the sky. It is one of the greatest mountains of Taiwan.
Mount Chilai is mostly renowned for its perilous slopes, most of the mountaineering accidents in Taiwan took place in the ranges of Mount Chilai, thus it is also called 'the Black Chilai'. In weathers of rain and cloud, Mt Chilai appears to be even more eerie.
