Located at Funghuan Village, in Luku Town, Nantou County, this bird sanctuary spreads over a 30 hectares land. It is the biggest government funded bird park in Taiwan. The air here is cooling and its surrounding moderately forested. About 300 different species of birds are kept here, totaling more than 3,000 birds. Some are the rarest in the world. Thus, this park is both a valuable tour and education centers. There are several other points of interest in the park such as the 10 thousand years old stone tablet, world rare and special birds and a waterfall where you can find fish and prawn in the lower section of the fall. Its high altitude affords splendid views of colorful seas of clouds and the surrounding dense forest. There are hiking trails where visitors can hike to the nearby Funghuanshan Temple, Chilintan (Unicorn Lake) and Kaishan (Open Mountain) Temple. It is ideal for a one day tour. By car : From Wangtien Highway Interchange, exit to No 1 Provincial Route to Chungchuan. Then, connect to No 14 Provincial Route to Tingpin and change to No 151 County Route passing Luku and you will reach the park.
By bus : From Taichung South Main Station, take the Chungshin Express Bus to the bird park. From Linshen Road in front of the gas station in Chiayi, take the Chungshin Express Bus to the bird park. From Chushan, take the Yuanlin Express Bus to the bird park. Buses leave every hour. |
