The area surround Shihmen (Stone Gate) Reservoir has long been known to most for its natural beauty and impressive dam. The reservoir is the largest lake in northern Taiwan. Private enterprises have set up grand resorts, recreation area with amusement park and restaurants in the vicinity, thus making this area a popular tourist center.
The Asian Theme Park is located behind the reservoir right in front of Hsizho Mountain. There are exciting fun rides such as roller coaster, pirate ship etc. The cable car takes visitors over the dam for a panoramic view of the entire reservoir. Tel : (03) 4712427.
Near the reservoir is the Shihmenshan Resort Village, located at Tahsi Town within Taoyuan County. It spreads over a 650 sq meters area and houses a variety of recreational facilities and lodging.

By car :
From the highway, exit at Chungli Interchange to No 113 County Route passing Lungtan, Shihmen Reservoir Check Point and you will reach the destination.
By bus :
1. From Taipei Wanghua Station, take the Hsinchu Express Bus for direct transport to the reservoir.
2. From Taoyuan or Chungli, take the Taoyuan Express Bus directly to the destination. |
