The Emperor's Palace Mountain
Emperor's Palace is a mountain range located at the popular suburb of Shihtin Village in Taipei County. Apart from the easy accessibility, the East and West Peak have been attracting hosts of mountain climbers for adventurous climbs. At an average altitude of 570 meters, climbers have to beware of its narrow crest line on both sides and proceed very slowly.
On the west flank of the mountain foothill, there is a private woodland campsite, where basic facilities such as barbecue site and riverside swimming areas are provided. The area is crowded with weekend campers and climbers. The best spot to ascend the mountains is from Shihtin Town. Climbers should go from the road in front of Shihtin Post Office and go along the Shihtin River to 9-leopu Bridge. Then, they should continue onto a small path on the left side of the Fuhsin Temple. Walk for about 25 minutes and they should see a farm house. From here, the road divides into two and usually climbers would take the left road upward to Emperor Mountain’s Eastwest Peak. After that, they could return vide Shihtin or Chungmin Stop on Pinshih Route.
