Built in 1976, this is the largest congregation place for the follower of the popular religion “I-kuan-tau.” This religion originated from two religious teaching, the “Shian-thien Tou” founded by Wang Tet-Fei in the Ch’ing Kang-she era and “Long Hua Chio” founded by Yeah Lo-vui in the Ming Dynasty. In 1930, the spiritual preacher Chang Thien-ran who was referred to as “Shi-chun” (meaning Master) by his followers renamed the religious teaching “I-kuan-tau.” “I-kuan-tou” entered Taiwan in 1946 but was outlawed in 1951 until 1987.The biggest ceremony takes place in mid July on Chang Thien-ran’s birthday where followers from all parts of the Island converge here for ceremonial prayers in the morning followed by fellowship activities in the afternoon. The Paokuang Cultural Hall established in 1985 has exhibits of shells, calligraphy and artifacts. After its liberalization in 1987, the temple has been continuously under expansion to attract more visitors.

By car: From the Yunkang Highway exchange, go along county lane no 20 to Shinhwa, Chaileo, Tsoychen, No 20B county lane, Nanhwa, Peileo and No 20 county lane to the destination.
By bus: From Tainan Town, catch the Hsingnan express bus bound for Thienteemei Mountain or Chiashen. Alight at Hsieh-touzhi stop in Yeeshan Village. |
