The Chinese Furniture Exhibition Hall is located at Municipal Road at Taoyuan City center, at the basement of the Taoyuan Municipal Cultural Center. Occupying a 1,000 sq meter space, the exhibits centered on the Taoyuan Tahsi Tang-wood furniture, which is said to be the earliest furniture used on the island. Its historical value is intriguing indeed.
The hall is divided into several partitions, each displays a specific features of the ancient furniture such as the ancient carpentry work on indoor and outdoor furniture, and the furniture depicted in ancient paintings etc. The floor layout dictates the 5 divisions in ancient traditional dwelling layout, which includes a main living room, a bedroom, study and book keeping room, kitchen cum dining room and the main gate. Small fixtures are also displayed to enhance the traditional lifestyle display.
At the Taoyuan Tahsi Tang-wood Furniture Exhibition Section, which is located at the inner most part of the hall, there are exhibits of the magnificent wood sculptures from some of the best known sculptors from Tahsi, Taoyuan. Their works include chairs for the Gods, altars, offering table, antique stand to more delicate items used for worshipping, marriage etc.

From Nanken Highway Interchange, exit to No 4 Provincial Route southward to Taoyuan.
Go on Minshen North Road and right turn to Sanmin Road. At the junction with Chungshan Road,
make a right turn to Municipal Road and you will reach the cultural center. |
