Green Grass (Chinchao) Lake
This lake has been opened for quite some time now. It is part of a reservoir, which stores water from the Yaker River. Although small in size, the lake is fringed by centuries old temples amid lush greenery. It is the earliest scenic spot in Hsinchu. In the vicinity, thereis a Japanese rebuilt temple dedicated to General Kungmin who was known in Chinese history for his intelligence and wittiness in war tactics. Inside the temple, there are calligraphy depicting the talents of this great man. In front of the temple, there is a campsite and barbecue area under shady trees. Along the roads after reaching the lake, there are several well-known mountain scenic spots such as Kuchifung and 18-chianfung.
