Officially opened in 1983, The Hualien Cultural Center is situated in Meilun District. Apart from the common gallery where local artists display their finest works, there are 3 additional thematic exhibiting rooms :
The African Room - where valuable treasures received from diplomatic interactions with the African countries.
The Aboriginal Room - shows the artifacts and handcrafts of the 3 Taiwanese tribes : Yaiya, Bunon, and Amei.
Hsianlin Room - this is where photographical works of a Hualien veteran Mr Hsianlin Luo as well as the replicas of historial bronze ware from the Palace Museum are being put on display.
Further more, scattered across the front yard of the Hualien Cultural Center, are hundreds of stone sculptures. From traditional characters and mystical creatures to life-like and modern abstractions, the lithoid art here reflects the infinite possibilities of mankind's creativity.

By Own Car : From Hualien Train Station, take the route of Zhongshan Road and drive southward. At the end, turn left to Haibing Street then continue onto Mingchuen Road. At the mouth of Wenfu Road turn right and you shall destinate. Total journey is approximately 5km.
Public Commute : From Hualien Train Station, take the Hualien Coach which travels in the direction of the harbour, and alight at the Hualien County Cultural Center. |
